Therefore, there is a second factor: relevancy. If Google considers your advertisement highly relevant to the key term that is being searched for, they will place your link at the top of the page even if you’re not paying the top price for your ad. Your ad will still be placed on top of others who might be paying more. In order to make your advertisement highly relevant, you should follow these steps:

– name your campaign after the main keyword

– name your ad group after the main keyword as well

– put the main keyword in your ad twice

– use only a few targeted keywords

– repeat this process for many campaigns

You can pay more money than your competitors, if you want. However, no matter how much money you told Google you would pay, they will not put your advertisement near the top of the page if they don’t feel that your ad is relevant to the key term being searched for. If they made a habit of this, and users did not find your advertisement relevant and therefore did not click on them, Google would lose money. They are definitely not going to let that happen!
