People choose to buy and live in a condominium for a huge variety of reasons. For some, it is the price. Others like the proximity to work and play. And still others simply enjoy the feeling of living in a bug, bustling city. Still not sure? Here are 10 reasons why you may prefer living in a condo.

1. Maintenance: There simply is not as much maintenance when you live in a condo as compared to a single-family home. You can watch the grass grow without having to mow it. You can watch the leaves fall without having to rake them. And that pool? Someone else keeps the temperature and chlorine levels right. 2. Location: If you work downtown, then your home is close to work. Condos also are close to sporting events, cultural amenities, restaurants, bars, and shopping. In many cases, getting there does not even require a vehicle. 3. Transportation: This relates to No. 2. Many condo denizens opt against having a car. And that often is feasible, given the proximity of condos to downtown areas. If somewhere it too far to walk to or ride a bike to, then public transportation likely is not more than a short walk away. 4. The view: Sure, not all condos afford great views. But if you want a sweeping view of the twinkling lights of the city, a condo is a great choice. Choose one of the top floors of a high-rise. 5. Community feel: Given that people in condos live very close to their neighbors, they often form a bond, like neighbors in a neighborhood. Many people come to think of their condo building as their own little neighborhood. 6. Neighbors: Assuming you are a people person, you can find a wide variety of interesting people in a condo building. While some cater to specific types of people, many do not. As a result, the neighbor to your left could be a retiree and to your right a young professional. 7. Amenities: The amenities that condos offer span the gamut, but you likely will find pools, hot tubs, fitness rooms, and entertaining space in many condos. Depending on what you want, you can find more or fewer amenities. 8. Flexibility: Condo owners may not have as much flexibility in making changes to their place as single-family home owners, but they can do more than someone who is renting a place. Want to change that carpet to tile or wood? Paint the walls? It is likely you can. 9. Open spaces: Many condos today are built with open floor plans. That appeals to people who do not like choppy, room-filled homes. 10. More time: Want to write a novel? Take more vacations? Just relax and read a book or watch TV? You likely will have more time to do such things in a condo since someone else is responsible for much of the maintenance.
